The Falklands have endured three decades of rumbling territorial dispute. With tensions now growing, Venezuela has pledged anti-British forces. This report examines the likelihood of a renewed conflict.

As tensions escalate with Argentina over the disputed Falkland Islands, Britain maintain that any negotiations would be "futile", because, "if the islanders want to remain British then that is their right". However, it is the economic prosperity of this archipelago which is of greater concern. It is believed that huge oil reserves lie beneath the seabed and, with "typical British arrogance", the governor has issued exploitation licenses. With Argentinian militants threatening to sabotage the oil rigs and Argentinian schoolchildren being taught that, "no land is more beloved in the whole motherland", it seems the peace may not endure much longer.

Colonial suggests there were native populations that were displaced, like in Argentina. Where as the truth is Britain has always had the largest settlements, although they had to boot out French/Spanish settlers at times. The only native Falkland inhabitants were Penguins.

England has had a long claim to the Falklands way before the Argentinians, if you look back in history the islands were EMPTY so the brits just settled in, they colonized and tamed the land, so they have the right to keep their little territory.

Argentina just has an agenda, because the GDP of the FI is much highter than most of their towns and cities and the fact THERE might be oil...
