So actually, this is a pretty interesting stage. It's pretty cramped and verges on the downright claustrophobic with branching paths within its own architecture, actually featuring multiple doorways to the next block which are actually kept isolated from one another, intertwining occasionally and creating a rather unique layout compared to most other stages. Incidentally, this type of environment is perfect for Grant, opening up a lot of options for using his unique climbing abilities.
I like the little droplets that erode the stone blocks away. It's a really nice touch and isn't (much) of a bore to just watch for a little while...although that could be more than a little detrimental to our heroes' ability to navigate the room if I went and left the faucet running for that long.
Oh, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link called...they want their eyeball creature back, saying something about Dracula stealing their Moa. Although the Zelda II enemies didn't cry blood and fly a distinctly different pattern, so maybe the Lord of Darkness has a case after all.
Speaking of which...can it be? It seems that we've found Dracula! He's been here, hiding in these catacombs with a spare coffin after all...kinda makes you wonder what the deal was with trying to reach that huge foreboding castle all the way in the distance. Now it looks like we won't have to bother with any of that.
Although...Dracula doesn't seem to be putting up much of a fight...he takes more damage and inflicts less of it than he did in the original Castlevania. He and his fireballs are also larger and slower-moving targets, even if the same general rule of "aim for the head" still applies. Heck, he even signals where he will be appearing next with a swarm of bats. Maybe he just learns from his mistakes and steps up his game a notch when he fights Simon about a hundred years from now...or maybe...
I'm not willing to swear to it, but I'm pretty sure that they must hurt you...otherwise why have I avoided them for so long? I mean, they melt stone away, it wouldn't make sense for them to leave a person unscathed. Now I'm going to wonder.
If you're on a block that's melting, after a certain frame, you'll fall through and it will finish up melting around you for that extra fraction of a second.
That's a good point...if I can sit there and just watch it melt, why hadn't it melted away already?

I'm guessing the super-acidic droplets hurt you if you touch them. What happens when you're on a block that's melting? (I'm guessing they only started dripping not too long ago.)
