Dr Gill Samuels Opens Forum 2009

Dr Gill Samuels, Chair of the Foundation Council at the Global Forum for Health Research, welcomes participants to Forum 2009 in Havana, Cuba. The meeting - themed 'Innovating for the Health of All' - offered a platform to discuss key issues on research for health and identify priorities and solutions to common problems. "Cuba is the ideal location for this forum as its innovative healthcare model provides us with an excellent example of what a country can achieve with limited resources," said Dr Samuels.

Among the 800 participants included: Ministers of Health, senior policy-makers, heads of agencies, global health experts, research leaders, representatives of civil society, the private sector and the media.
