Improved 3D movie of Locomotive 3007.
This is a higher resolution version of a 3d vid I uploaded a year ago. I've re-done this because I wanted to see how it performs with the new 3d viewing support YouTube have introduced
Using youtube's new yt3d:enable=true tag you can select a number if different viewing techniques including the use of anaglyphic 3d glasses, a mirror, or free viewing with either parallel or crossed eyes.
The cross eye method is my preferred choice as it is full colour, requires no extra equipment and has no size restrictions. It can be tricky to master but if you need a little help you could try and make a set of training glasses. You can download a free pattern from my web site:

Alternatively a small wedge prism can also help with viewing.
The High Definiton button appears to be broken for now but here's a work around. Just add:
&hd=1
to the end of the URL.
and you can also see some still photographs here:

26 August 2007. Locomotive 3007, a 60 year old engine originally built in Glasgow returns to the city and is put on display in Goerge Square.
The 180-tonne steam locomotive which spent its working life in South Africa is to be an exhibit in the new Riverside Transport Museum.
This is my first experiment with my new digital 3D camera setup. I usually do still 3D photography but my new sony DSC-V3's do video so I thought I'd have a try at a 3D movie.
For those who ask how it's done:
You have 2 cameras strapped together with the lenses separated by about 6.5cm just like your 2 eyes. Start filming with your 2 cameras at precisely the same moment (that's the tricky bit - I use a box of electronic tricks to do this but you could also do a bit of post production editing to get your 2 films starting at precisely the same moment) You take the 2 resulting films and combine them with a program like "Stereo Movie Maker" which is excellent and free, so no reasons not to try it.
StereoMovieMaker will allow you to chose from several different 3d formats and will render up the final movie for you.

Just have to work on holding the camera still now.
Everyone should learn the parallel method. It's by far the easiest. I trained myself using magic eye pictures, instead of crossing your eyes and jacking up your brain and making it harder to focus, all you have to do is relax your eyes and then focus them without angling them.

Parallel is definitely easier than xeye but it is limited as you can't view images larger than roughly 6cm wide.

I have 3d glasses that i got from the movie theater when i went there to watch a 3D movie...But it doesnt work..why??

are they red/blue coloured filters? If so should work if you select Red/Cyan from the 3d view style menu.
If however they are polarised 3d glasses (grey in colour) they're the wrong kind and won't work.

I've already watched like 10+ videos in 3d, at least 4 times each... my eyes are now getting stuck, and when I try to focus on words, they wont stop, and I can see stuff far away, like the games on my shelf, but when I go back to the screen, everything's still cross eyed, but I kept rubbing my eyes, and holding each one while I pan left with one eye, and now it's 90% back... but it's scary, almost losing my vision for this awesome new upgrade 2 youtube... sucks
