Do you know how many people die A DAY in the US in coal mines? Chernobyl was a ONE TIME DEAL. There is much safer nuke technology just WAITING to be used out there, but isn't. Thanks to you hippie bastards. Plus, Chernobyl was in fucking russia, who had an unbelievably unstable footing in the world, and could barely figure out how to build a tractor. You think russian nuke plants are gonna be safe???

they were actually messing around with them.

i live 50 miles from 2 nuclear power station and i dont care. i know im 100% safe :)

and a 3rd one will be built in the next 10 years.

1KG of plutonium gives off the same amount of energy as 500 million tons of coal. FACT.

tbh i would rather put 1KG back into the ground than burn 500 million tons of coal.

The UK has been affected extremely lightly by chernobyl, when you consider what actual radioactive contamination can cause. There are almost no effects from it still present from it more than about 100 miles away. and even at that distance the area is mostly safe now. Also, that is the only recorded accident from a reactor of any magnitude greater than what happens in the boiler rooms of office buildings each day. It IS cheaper, safer, easy to sustain, and the only logical conclusion.

@fireicer same argument can be used against ANY other source of power. People don't want wind power because they're aesthetically unappealing. People don't want solar because it takes up a lot of space and isn't very efficient. People don't want COAL because it pollutes very heavily. coal and oil are very dirty. Look what's happening to the gulf coast right now! it's the WORST environmental disaster EVER. Nuclear energy is much safer than coal or oil in the long run.

@Miabalzitch I would also like to add here that freedom of choice. You might not mind using nuclear power but i don't want it so i use other power sources. If your nuclear power goes wrong well your fault but it effects me as well as you and that's just unfair and darn right selfish. nuclear can go to hell its caused enough hell on earth for thousands of people worldwide. The Microsoft windows thing was a joke lol. So do you think 100% of the radiation from Nuclear can be contained?

The UK has been affected very heavy due to radioactive contamination that has come from Chernobyl. we have saturated 50-100mile radius of countryside all around the 3 nuclear power plants we have in the UK in all fairness its all safe levels they say but what about he who don't want it. your nuclear affects everyone

@fireicer ......just stop. you obviously have no idea what you're babbling about. No one would use WINDOWS OS or any computer OS we know about to operate a freaking nuclear reactor. I'm talking about advancements that have been made in the past 60 years, that allow spent plutonium rods to be reused up to 10 times more, better safety controls, etc etc. And in regards to your previous post: American quality controls will take care of 99% of your safety concerns.
