Alex Ovechkin recorded his seventh career hat trick. It is his second of the season; the last was Nov. 26 vs. Atlanta. In both games he scored all three goals in the first and second periods. He leads the league in goals (36). Each of the last four games in which he has scored a goal he has scored at least two his last single-goal game was Jan. 3 vs. the New York Rangers.
Washington scored seven goals for the second time this season. The Capitals scored 11 goals in two games this weekend after being held to two goals in four straight games

Ovechkin has posted 57 points in his last 41 games (33g-24a). The Capitals are 31-1-1 in the last 33 games when Ovechkin has scored a goal and 20-0-1 in his last 21 multiple-goal games. The Capitals haven't lost a game in which Ovechkin scored a power-play goal in more than a year.
