i loled when he said the 6x6 should be easier if you know the 4x4 & 5x5 for the second time

As long as you know the center-swapping commutator, and you understand how the edges are moving when doing 4x4 algorithms, you can solve any size cube; e.g., you don't need to learn how to do the 5x5. But, if you're going for a speedsolve, then I would recommend checking into some 5x5 algorithms. But it is not necessary.
