This mouse or rat was chasing itself on the sidewalk. I came across it while running in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA today. I really didn't know what to do for it, but, um, there you go. Spinning vermin.
What this little fellow has is called "vestibular syndrome", caused by inner ear infection. The vestibular system is located in the inner ear and is in charge of balance, so when it is inflammed, animals (or humans) lost balance and start walking in cirles. I know this because I made my post-graduate studies in meningitis and inner ear infection, and infected mice were exactly to this one...

It's probably just drunk of fermented berries. Happens surprisingly often with squirrels. Seen 3 of them myself
