Civics lesson circa C.E. 2001: presidential security falls under the purview of Department of Justice. The Department of Justice falls under the purview of the Department of Homeland Security. The Secret Service falls under the purview of the Department of Justice. Therefore, presidential security falls under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security. Not sure who told you that the Department of the Treasury had a hand in protecting Obama. When in doubt, put it under the DHS heading.

Who gives a damn who these people are? The idea into the hearings is to resolve how the "slick Salahis" got into the White House despite the "air tight" security. Someone's head is going to roll. Best to resolve things before we send people to burn precipitously. The integrity of presidential security is paramount and is at the forefront of this investigation. Mr. and Mrs. Salahi are fools for pulling this stunt, and in the end, will be collateral damage.

This is a good question. They should be in jail and would be were it up to the authorities. However, the system must keep things moving. If they refuse to appear to testify before Congress by invitation they will be subpoenaed. If they refuse the subpoena, they will be held in contempt of Congress and jailed. Then they can cool their heels in federal prison until they decide that it is probably best to follow the rules, despite their affinity for wanting to break them.

What is the big deal? The Secret Service is doing a great job.
Heck, it isn't like the Secret Service has allowed people to bring high powered rifles to presidential appearances.
