  • lived in charles county maryland my whole just found out that this was here

  • The steel ship is the ferry Accomac. It burnt while being worked on at Portsmouth, VA shipyard back in 1964.

  • Scrap iron prices are soaring.Perhaps it would now be worth while to start recycling these old vessels?

  • @CMLovejoy It's simple. The cost of the operation will be much more expensive than the scrap obtained.

  • @CMLovejoy I was going to say the same thing. Theres a fortune there just waiting to be hauled up.

  • The wooden ones were build for WWI as emergancy transport. The war ended before they could be used. So they were stuck there and forgotten. The steel ones are old ships frm WWII.

  • why don't they just scrap them?

  • Thanks for the great video (and rescuing the moth).

  • these ships came from pork barrel spending. before pork barrel spending was cool. this place is very pretty during high tide and clear water. lots of fish. be careful many things to get hung up on, the bottom of my boat shows it.
