  • Hi can i ask if this tool is compatible with 240v or is it 110v only?

  • @slayergut I believe only the 110

  • Thanks!

  • you should never EVER see sparks flying off your knifes edge. why do you think they cant just sharpen a katana on a belt to get a good edge? its the definition of counterproductive...however im still interestedin this product just out of curiousity sake

  • @darkinertia2 Good to know. Thanks for the information

? I know several people who use belt grinders to sharpen their katana's, namely 1000 grit paper (coarser for when the edge is truly messed up.

Reason: tradition. katana are often regarded as some sort of ultimate weapon, it's just a bar of steel sharpened, and then differentially tempered.

  • very useful video, I learned a lot about this sharpener that they do not show on the company site.

  • i will just stick to my stones

  • @darkinertia2 Word, definitely agree with you. Took me a while to really get good at using a grinder. This thing really takes that learning process out. I probably won't get one of these, but I have to say if I didn't already have sharpening tools... I probably would. Would be nice if it went to lower angles without having to eye it. I generally sharpen my everyday knives to 30 (inclusive). Sometimes I take my zdp down to 20, but that is usually just for fun, lol.

  • @Cventures oh yeah no doubt if you know how to do it and dont overheat your steel its an excellent way of sharpening...im gonna laugh if this works as well as i want it to cuz i spent a little over this past year researching and finding every sharpening books out there to get great edge geometry on every knife...i can turn smith and wesson into a spyderco(ok not really lol) using a couple stones and a strop but this looks like it makes good edges effortlessly

  • @darkinertia2 Agreed. But the shot that was getting sparks was when the blade was held against the grinder. As long as you just move the blade through, you'll be fine. I tend to manually sharpen with stones, but grinders can get blades ridiculously sharp. If you overdo it, of course you'll get negative effects.
