AED saves Dan Ruthemeyer in office. What strikes us is his opening statement: "Up until 3:45 on October 22 it was just any other day."

He had no symptoms at all.
It is SUDDEN cardiac arrest.

Dan was lucky that Battalion Chief Mike Voss got there in under four minutes. Are you confident your EMS provider will be as responsive?

Two statistics suggest otherwise:
1) Median response time is 6.6 minutes for emergency medical services in mid-sized urban communities.

2) The average call-to-shock time for a typical community is 9 minutes.

The likelihood of survival decreases by 7-10 percent every minute after sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Be prepared. Have an AED in your office.

Thanks... we still live with that day.. and yes, please everyone urge your company decision-maker to install an AED. It takes no skill, and presents no liability. The worst thing to do is nothing. We learned the hard way and were lucky..

Wow. That's an excellent PSA. I still get choked up when I think about that day, and when I see this. I hope that AEDs become completely commonplace in all offices and public places.
