I've tried all the iPad trading applications and they all suck. But there is one App that is absolutely zero compromise.

  • Can you still do this if your desktop is a Windows PC?

  • @casteffens86 Yes, VNC works the same on the iPadl

  • i wouldn't want to trade from a dom through vnc. You also cant stream video very well. Is great for basic entry trading, excellent tip for folks, even works with laptops not just ipad.

  • @SilversMarket I manage a hedge fund and several client accounts very nicely with my ipad. There isn't anything I can't do on the iPad using VNC that I can do sitting right in front of my workstation. I can also use my iPhone and get the exact same screen, it's the size factor that makes it limiting, not functionality. The size and ease of handling of the iPad makes it superior over a laptop.

  • sweet, another reason the iPad needs to be tethered to a PC or laptop. Why not just use a Macbook Air at that point.. ThinkOrSwim's iPad app is pretty good, any reason u dont like that?

  • @MeatPunch Yeah, cuz it's only ToS and it's a slimed down version of it. With RealVNC I have zero compromise because I'm using the actual desktop trade platform remotely on my iPad.

  • If you're using an Ipad for Tradestation, are you working with the dome to place orders without a mouse? If you're not using a mouse, how are you placing orders? I ask because I can't see how using a touch screen would work on TS's (or anyone else's) dome.

  • ThinkOrSwim iPad application is rather basic, and yes checking the stock, but real trading, analyzing can hardly be done on it.
