Donald Zec and Anthony Fowles described Elliott Gould as 'ugly-handsome'...in a way you can see what they mean. He and Streisand are still friends largely because of Jason, I would imagine. I had no idea that she had even met Lucille Ball let alone been interviewed by her...thanks for posting this rare snippet...
Barbra has always needed a strong man and here she declares again that Elliott was the stable one, demanding and scrappy. This is typical of strong women and their difficulty in finding a man who is even stronger. I suppose James Brolin hs that in him too.
I read an interview with Lucille Ball in which she recalled this interview. Barbra was eating peaches out of a bowl while the interview was in progress, and you could hear her spooning the peaches over the air. At the beginning of the interview, Lucy would ask questions and sometimes Barbra simply nodded in reply until Lucy covered the microphone with her hand and said, "Barbra, this is radio." Lucy said she was in awe of Barbra, but she had to make her realize the realities of radio.

Funny at the beginning Lucy sounds like she's putting words into Barbra's mouth...
