My 3-year-old son and I enjoy a very loud thunderstorm together from the balcony of our apartment. You'll have to pardon us if we're a little too excited -- we just love thunderstorms.

My wife joined us on the balcony and attempted to pull my son back from the edge out of concern for his safety. You'll hear him protest loudly. :)

The video really doesn't do the volume of the storm justice. I think this was one of the loudest storms I've experienced.

Watch around the 2:33 mark for a close lightning strike just beyond the building in view. Check out the 3:00 mark for some nasty looking green lightning.

  • Thank god there are idiots like you who exist in the world who are stupid enough 2 go out in that storm, that way i can watch all the natural beauty safely.... u know like normal sane ppl do, and ill even let my child watch ur vid, instead of risking the both of us getting fried. wouldnt have been much of a laughing matter then would it? smh

  • @mkennedy1389 Oh, please. Go find something useful to do. We were standing at the back of a covered patio. We weren't even getting wet, for heaven's sake. But when it comes to getting fried, I'd take care if I were you -- I hear that self-righteous cranks are natural lightning rods.

  • Anyone ever been in the middle of a hurricane? i have, it's much more fun that this trust me...

or is it dangerous... hmmm i forget.

  • @RecoverRedeem We've been through hurricanes Bonnie (1998), Isabel (2003), and Irene (2011). Of the three, Isabel was the worst for us, and it was barely a Cat1 when it got here. I decided then that we'd evacuate if anything above a Cat2 was headed for us (although it is tempting to stay and witness the awesome fury of nature).

  • If you look right after 2:25 , and pause at 2:32 at the correct time you can see what looks like yellow/green small lightning bolt. Probably where it grounded off at, in front of the building you're looking at. That's Awesome.
