Phil Plait, President of the James Randi Educational Foundation and the Bad Astronomer called in to my local morning show, "Preston & Steve". (Thanks, in small part, to a few well placed emails from yours truly.)
Here is part 2 of his interview. Part 3 is forthcoming.
Those self-alligning telescopes are great. My dad got one and it cut through the light pollution here in memphis. For best results though we had to travel 30-40 minutes to be able to find the stars it needed to get its position. It did take some time for it to adjust though.
I know it's bad form to just write "Same here" oder "Me too" in a public forum, but: Same here, me too. In my case, I might add Randi and the JREF and, of course, Carl Sagan.
Dr Plait truly was my first introduction to the skeptical movement. I used to listen to coast to coast AM and loved it when he would come on and give updates on space missions and general "good" astronomy. I started following Phil's blog and when I began listening to podcasts a few years ago, discovered the SGU, Geologic, Skepticality, etc and it's been pretty much down hill from there :)
