@UWISHPROD Yes, I know the problem is the 2 piece spark plug design and there are better quality 1 piece replacements. What I have read is the carbon build up on the plug makes the electrode end of the plug get stuck in the head when you try to remove it. I would be reasonable to assume that if you clean the carbon from the combustion chamber side of the plug it should be less likely to get stuck in the head when you try to remove it.

@AJGoSkate1 Ya burn it to the ground....no just kidding lol The spark plugs on that shouldnt be 2 piece but you can still use the same routine I did here

I am wondering if occasional use of a combustion chamber cleaning product would help prevent this problem.

@ihopetospeed1 The problem was the design of the spark plug Ford used. The spark plug breaks in 2 pieces.

Been dreading changing the plugs in my 02 explorer 4.6L. we bought it at 110,000kms, we asumed they weren't done, it now has 322,000kms, still havent done the plugs lol. One just blew out recently and it looked damn good for its age. helicoiled blah blah and shes good but it idles like a beat up datsun, im assuming its the plugs. Do you think 322,000kms on original plugs is asking for trouble? it missfires a lot so you get the old sulfur smell often which is the worst part.
