In 2006, OCE and a Japan based group of friends put together the Northern Canada First Nations Initiative and helped organizing a Canada's Yukon First Nations tour in Japan to share and promote their culture and lifestyle, clothing, carving and other art forms. Being at the forefront of the global environmental changes threatening their culture and resources, through seminars and hands on activities, they helped us understand that the languages, the stories, the music, work and food, all things that create our identity, are related to our environment. As nature as we know it melts down, so do we... This video introduces the fashion part of their tour. It was filmed at the Embassy of Canada and at the Pink Cow in fashionable Omotesando/Shibuya area, Tokyo. I hope it will raise awareness about these issues and interest in First Nations of Canada and beyond. - Éric Busque

  • Keith is your uncle?

He is a "hero" of mine..for his art work and carvings.

I have a shawl from my Tlingit great grandmother like the one in the video... One day I will visit the land of my ancestors.
