The indian Himalayan state capital Gangtok, is a stunning city hanging off a steep slope with spectacular views of Kanchenjunga, the world's 3rd highest mountain. Gangtok is sophisticate, spotless, beggar-free, and hip. Beautiful architecture, great food, chilled out locals and Tibetans every where. What a place!

  • I'd have to look it up but I think you have to enter Sikkim via West Bengal, India. The closest rail head is NJP, New Jalpaiguri, very near Siligiri the border town between East Nepal and India. Crossing Nepal from Pakistan would be rough most of the way. I think you'd be best to go to Amritsar and take the train across India. From NJP or Siligiri you take a shared jeep which is about 5 hours to Gangtok. Hope you get to go.
