From their internationally acclaimed album "Rishte" on World Village/Harmonia Mundi, a clip of the title track. "Rishte" is the Urdu word for relationships--and when guitar legend Gary Lucas met up with UK Indian vocalist extroardinaie Najma Akhtar in 2007 sparks literally flew. Mutual fans through their own solo work and collaborations with folks like Page and Plant (Najma) and Jeff Buckley (Gary), it was truly a match made in heaven. Their resulting album "Rishte" has received 5 star reviews worldwide since its release in June 2009, hit #4 on the World Music Charts Europe, and continues to astonish folks world over for its pioneering fusion of American folk blues and psychedelic rock roots and Indian Ghazal style singing and swirling tabla rhythms that delights and dazzles the inner eye and ear. Here the duo are filmed by director Doug Sloan rehearsing in NYC with tabla player Dibyarka Chatterjee and violinist Alicia Svigals.
