Discovery Channel (Europe)

Think of a tv channel, that gave you everything you wanted to know. Well, Discovery was such channel (and still is).

Discovery Channel started up as a small channel from 17.00CET to 01.00CET in Europe. After some time, The Learning Channel (TLC) started up before The Discovery Channel aswell.

What I miss with The Discovery Channel now, is "new" programs all the time and offcourse Beyond 2000

Anthony, I seem to remember it wasn't so usual to scramble cable channels, I remember Country Music Television was the same, plus European Business News. Especially those that couldn't be received with a small dish!

Nice. I used to watch Beyond 2000 from time to time, with all kinds of futuristic developments. Now we are there and passed the magic 2000 year.

I actually got discovery channel europe before it came to BskyB Multichannels in Videocrypt1 and Multichoice Kaleidoscope in Videocrypt 2 in 1993 for a few years before with a 1.2m IRTE motorised dish,EchostarSR5500 satellite receiver positioner from Intelsat601 in PAL clear with stereo sound 7.02/7.20Mhz with an acceptable and slightly sparklie picture. It was intended for cablenets but was NEVER scrambled,wonder why? cable exclusive channels don't normally broadcast in the clear.
