That's the point: He's not as good as Sebastien, but he's trained to see things that the casual observer misses. Sebastien is used to climbing, so he climbs the crane cable. Bond sees an alternative way to get up there. Sebastien jumps over obstacles, Bond takes an excavator and bulldozes them. Sebastien climbs up the girders, Bond runs up the crane. He has his weaknesses, but he knows how to compensate.
