You're almost correct. At that time they were still worried about religious doctrine being the primary source of law instead of the guiding force of law. That is why the judicial system was designed to ensure the spirit of the constitution is upheld and strike down laws that don't coincide with it. I am not being a snob just letting you know this is what the last interpretation by our supreme court has stated. They are the highly educated snobs I'm just a highly informed parrott

The term was used in a letter to describe what and why was being written into the Constitution. It was never intended to be used in the manner it is today...only to ensure that the government could not force you to a certain religion only.

You obviously have a public education that did not teach you to learn more on your own and obviously did not take any sophomore civics classes in college. Second, if you watch the clip, she was directly asking for the others to SHOW her in the Constitution where it specifically says 'separation of church and state'..why did she ask this? Please be specific. The reason is there is no 'separation of church and state' in the Constitution. I truly am believing you are only quoting CNN or MSNBC sound bites!
