Love Bites—Chapter 12
Joe: Denise, Kevin Sr., this is Demi. (But they knew that.)

I shook their hands and took another look around. Man this place was huge.

Demi: You guys have a lovely home. (Said with a smile)
Denise: Thank you.
Joe: Well Denise, Im going to show her around.
Denise: (Nodding)

He took my hand and we walked up the stairs. I stared down the light green walls and the doors down the hall. We kept walking until we reached the last door.

Joe: This is my room.

Joe opened the door and I stepped in. One wall of the room was completely window and the others were covered with gray paint. There was a couch against the wall and a guitar in the corner. An entertainment center sat across the couch with a flat screen TV, CDs and DVDs on every shelf.

Demi: Man this place is cool. (Plopping down on the couch)
Joe: Its nice. Like my own little place to just get away from everything. (Shoving his hands in his pockets)
Demi: I forget, you dont sleep do you?
Joe: No we dont. (Smiling)
Demi: Thats cool.
Joe: If you say so. (Sitting next to me)

I watched him as he stared out the window. The green trees outside reflected in his eyes; His jaw line just perfect where he was. Then the window opened out of nowhere.

Demi: (Eyes wide) W-what?
Joe: Oh, Im sorry.
Demi: Yeah, is there something you want to tell me? Like how that happened?

Selena barged in.

Selena: He can move objects with his mind. (Sitting on the other side of me)
Joe: Ever heard of knocking?
Selena: Like you didnt hear me coming.
Demi: You can move objects—?
Joe: Yes, I forgot to mention that . . .
Selena: Obviously. (Smiling at me)
Demi: (Laughing) So can you bring that CD over here?

He nodded and stared ahead at the shelf, slightly moving his hand in a come here motion. Next thing I knew, the CD was in his hand.

Demi: Whoa. (Breathless)
Selena: Eh, you get used to it. (Sighing)
Joe: Its Ben Folds. (Holding up the disk)
Demi: I love Ben Folds. (Smiling)
Selena: And I loved ice cream! (Sighing) But . . . anyway, lets check out my room.

Selena tugged my arm and dragged me back down the hall to the first door.

Selena: Are you ready to be amazed? (She beamed)

I nodded and she opened the door. The walls were a pale yellow and covered with band posters.

Demi: (I smiled wide) Holy awesomeness!
Selena: (Laughing) I know right?!
Joe: Yeah, no comment.
Demi: You dont like it?
Joe: Seems a little crazy with all the band posters.
Selena: And I like crazy.
Joe: Its okay Demi, Ill get you out of here. (Grabbing my hand)

He walked with me back to his room and we stood in front of the big window.

Demi: Man, this is so amazing. (He turned towards me and looked down)
Joe: Youre amazing.
