  • Your mixolydian lines against dominant-sept-chords sound great and really "martinoesque". Think I'm going to steal them from you. Will take quite some practice to get them this fast, though.

But why do you describe them so complicated going around so many corners?

"Am dorian over D7" is just "D mixo" for me.

"G7 mixolydian into Dm7 dorian"? These two are also the same to me.

  • @Fitzliputzli23 you Must have different Approach to the changes. The original changes D7 G7 C7 F7 are replaced by Am7/D7 - Dm7/G7 - Gm7/C7 - Cm7/F7. So you don't only Play mixolydian although the tonal Material could Be interpreted As mixolydian with passing notes.

  • Even the tone reminded me of Mr. Martino's tone, full, fat, and warm. Man, I am shaking my head. It seems I don't hear this type of tone much these days. A lot of guitarists nowadays seem to prefer the sweet, syrupy, reverb-drenched sound, with a lot of treble and gain.

  • Nice solo demonstration. Have you thought to use Mixo #11 (4th mode Melodic Minor) over the dominant chords during the bridge as well? I think what Fithzliputzli23 was trying to say is that A dorian and D mixo are the same: G major. (Separate from the idea of substituting ii V in the bridge instead of V)

  • @Fitzliputzli23 Martino's minor substitution theory.

  • thank you very much

  • @Muzikman127 which would be the same as D mixolydian enharmonically, hence fitting over D7. Sorry for all the replies.

  • @Muzikman127 Am dorian just being A dorian that is
