Playing a Skinner organ "is like driving a Rolls Royce as opposed to a Buick," says Andrew Senn. He demonstrates for Carsten Lenz, who has traveled from Germany to hear the 1930 Skinner organ at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown, NJ. Carsten's church has bought a smaller Skinner organ from a church in Passaic, NJ, and he hopes to make it sound like the instrument at St. Peter's. Video by Kevin Coughlin for MorristownGreen.com.

Wow...very well-played! What an organ! What a piece of music! This is stunning in every way! Nice to see that they're bringing one into a land where this sort of sound is very uncommon, however, sad to see it leave! It really doesn't get much better than a Skinner!

one other thing unique about Skinners are their Pitman chests and gate & cone valves fronting their wind reservoirs. Their action is much more responsive than traditional electropneumatic or Wicks style direct electric actions

I love this! It almost seems staged, but there's inherent charm in the dialogues betwixt the two colleagues that would almost insinuate that the'yd spoken about this "recording" before they actually taped it. Regardless, I 'd like to be acquainted with both these gents, and I hope all had a splendid time!

@AeolianSkinner1983 It is so sad these companies went by the wayside. If Skinner & Harrison could have been amiable and worked for many many more years, their organs would have been the true envy of the world.
