The Wall Street Journal publishes 25-30 videos a day, and the majority of them are produced by the paper's reporters, according to Deputy Managing Editor Alan Murray. As part of a strategy to integrate online video with the reporting, The Journal trains reporters on a regular basis in New York and San Francisco to use Sony HDR-HC9 cameras.

This is more evidence that multi-platform reporting is an increasingly necessary skill for today's journalists. Andy interviewed Murray at The Wall Street Journal offices last month.

Andy also interviewed The Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor for News Video Chet Rhodes about online video training for print journalists this summer; you can watch the interview here. As of June, 185 print reporters at The Washington Post had been trained to produce online video.

The Journal videos that do best feature breaking news, big-name columnists like Walt Mossberg, technology, cool cars, and unusual topics like The Last Lecture.
