@mattmit Until he can get his work onscreen without help from other people? First of all, I would like to point out, Andy has been in non mo cap roles before. Second....you don't consider makeup artists, cinematographers, or composers talented people? Who happen to work on ALL films? I'm talking about Andy's performance soley HIS talent. Yes he should get an award for THAT. As WETA should for their effects which is solely theirs.

@whitewolfwithblackSP Yes, but until he can get his performance on screen with no additional hard work from many other talented people, an oscar recognising only him is a little unfair. I would happily see him win an oscar in a performance capture catagory, which would be consistent with your description of whats going on here, but not best actor alone. I think there is a lot of value in Andy's work, but he's not a one man team.

the thing I love about this film is, despite the fact everyone else treated Ceasar and the other apes like they didn't matter, Will was the only one that ever really cared about Ceasar, and Ceasar forgave Will because he knew that he cared.

the man gives heart to any character he plays

This is amazing, true acting.
I can't believe he can give an ape emotional expressions, while certain angsty-teenager-flick-actresse
s with the incapability to control her face muscles gets praised nowadays. This is the real stuff!

What happened to you gollum? :(
Andy Serkis should definately win the Oscar award for his brilliant role of Caesar in Rise Of The Planet Of the Apes, and he is a brilliant, amazing actor. Awesome.

Andy represents a new area of acting that is different from method acting and reciting lines. Some people think that being a character that doesn't speak is easy, but it can be quite difficult to capture the performance through the character's emotions, facial expressions, and actions. You have to keep the story going without speaking and Andy Serkis is amazing at it. He deserves the oscar nod
