What? Let me say first. Great footage. WTH are you guys talking about. A students lack of ability to read has nothing to do with any HBCU. Level of talent is determined mainly by two things. The directors that instruct them and the students will to practice. The guide someone spoke of is called their high school or middle school band director. Replicating the style of their favorite program has nothing to do with what should be taught in band class and what they do when they practice at home.

@7thSwell the conference you in doesnt determine if you have musicianship or not becasue there are playres that SUCK or are MEDIOCRE in every program>SWAC and MEAC!

@7thSwell I just dont like the ego that many meacs walk around with like they god's gift to music.ex. went to hbcu band dir. consortium in ATL and we were the only swac school there.despite that we still attempted to network and socialize with schools we had never faced before.some didnt even speak back to us when we said hello.that type of stuff pisses me off! it wasnt marching season but it made me want to pull my horn out and show these cats just how much muscicainship i have.

@7thSwell and if you let them in your program that mentallity will only lower your level of musicianship in your band little by little.i know some of you meac cats think we swac schools dont have musicianship but SOME OF US DO!.

@7thSwell its really sad but i think we (collegiate bands are part of the problem becasue they see what we do and try mimic that)they should have some one to guide them abouthow to play with intensity and what it is.but every college isn't setting a good example of musicianship.then we wonder why we get these kids that cant read music or do anything but blow trying to audition to get in our programs.
