Hunger and Homelessness Educational Video Contest Deadline for online submission of video December 1st, 2011 @11:59PM:

Inspired by our tech-savvy YouTube community, we will be holding a video contest among student organizations to promote awareness about issues of hunger and homelessness. An interested organization may enter the contest by a $10 fee, all monetary fees will be added up to make up a monetary prize. The purpose of... this video contest is to promote awareness as one group, made up of various organizations, fighting for one cause: to put a stop to hunger and homelessness. As hunger and homelessness is an issue that affects different individuals of different ages, genders, ethnicities and all walks of life—it is important to recruit individuals and organizations to push for solutions together. Through this educational video campaign, we will be spreading awareness virally.

WISPIRG's Hunger and Homelessness campaign will be bringing in speakers to share their experiences of homelessness with us. The purpose of this event is to hear from those who have personally experienced life in shelters in hopes that our featured speakers will help us to break down stereotypes of the homeless and better educate the community about issues of poverty. We will also be voting on the videos created by different campus organizations to promote awareness on these issues.

Spreading the word on Hunger and Homelessness November 17th, 2011

WISPIRG will be flooding campus with facts, speaking to students and reaching out to educate the community on Bascom Hill, at Library Mall, at Campus Mall and throughout campus to spread the word.

One for All: Hunger and Homelessness Benefit Show November 17th, 2011
Play Circle Theatre
6:00PM-8:00PM

A fun-filled night of amazing performances aimed to portray hunger and homelessness with an artistic twist. Local performers will showcase their singing, dancing and poetry to educate our audience about real issues on poverty that leave men, women, and children hungry and homeless. Come join us for a night of great talent! Donations will be requested at the event, as this will be our final fundraising push.

(Note: All donations will be given to local food and homeless shelters)
