CCHR Industry of Fraud! Siberia USA Deceptions

The Infamous CCHR "Siberia USA" claims deserve special attention, much as the skinner box did. Yet another case in which public paranoia has lead to ill informed conspiracy theorists trying to stop a beneficial.

Prior to the Alaska mental health trust being established, anyone suffering from a mental ailment would be shipped to oregon.

The trust set aside funds and land for alaska in order for them to eventually be able to support their own mental health programs.

Included in the bills were provisions for the transportation of patients. So, if someone became mentally Ill while visiting Alaska they could be returned to their home state and vise versa.

This transporting of patients was blown out of proportion by right wing wacko groups.. LRH and COS among them.

Granted CCHR makes some claims that Hubbard and Scientology was behind the protest, but this is also false.

This is really screwed up stuff, so I went to several reliable sources

Heard this claim about Siberia USA before and suspected something fishy, but never realised it was quite this skewed a claim.

@TMOvids Of all the fact checking I did the Siberia USA bit was the hardest to find real information on. I was thrilled when I came across that lecture. The Wikipedia entry, at that time, was a nightmare.

They tried to pull the same crap then on a black male scientist (with a name spelling of Julian that's more frequently associated with women) that they've now been trying to pull on a white female scientist (with a name spelling of Julien that's more frequently associated with men). If you can't find affordable housing or a liveable wage, it means you are "mentally ill" because you "can't take care of yourself", whether or not you REALLY HAVE BEEN taking care of yourself despite the limitations. Furthermore, they don't need to send people out to a "siberian" involuntary commitment/ they are more than getting away with rounding up and committing millions right under everybody's noses because no one is acknowledging what is really happening. Be careful of sweeping judgements
