Canadian experimenter Vern Woodbeck supplied this brief video of a startup of his prototype 'Lady Jane Grey' twin-intake valveless pulsejet. The engine is started with spark ignition and a brief blast of compressed air from a hand-held nozzle. Engine was designed by Larry Cottrill, Iowa USA. Vern's build of the 32-inch (820 mm) engine is the first prototype of this design, built from 3mm thick mild steel sheet. It should deliver 20 lb (about 10kg) static thrust or better, running on propane vapor as shown here.
Approx. 20 lb - it easily lifted the plastic pail, containing 15 lb of water, off the floor. The pail has some mechanical advantage because of the ropes, so its weight was not an accurate measure. - L Cottrill
