Probably flew the Canarsie Climb with radar vectors WAVEY?
-
WAVEY is an airspace fix on the JFK1 and SKORR3 departure procedures.
-
Well, a specific departure route over the WAVEY intersection.
-
Actually, I think he was requesting the WAVEY departure.
-
Is WAVEY a specific route? are there other routes with other names to the same destination?
-
And they say New Yorkers are rude. Please, the ATC seems pretty nice!
-
what is WAVEY?
-
there are a lot of waypoints in the world one of these is WAVEY. And the pilot wanted to fly over this intersection.

Non-pilot comments on these videos are funny =p Delta was probably on a ground stop or ground delay program out of JFK. He had already pushed from the gate, taxied to the runway, and shut down to wait out the delay. He called clearance to try to get a different route so he could circumvent the delay. Just FYI, airline pilots *never* file their own routes... dispatchers do it. If the pilot has a problem, he'll call the dispatcher to make different arrangements (re: "we'll try company again")
