Learn how to enter a holding pattern properly. Come to Dean International in Miami, FL and learn to fly them in a real airplane! English Website: www.flymiami.com Spanish Website: www.volarmiami.com
I probably would have done a teardrop entry on the hold he "direct" entered . The official, FAA way to enter a hold makes it alot harder, I draw out my hold on the chart, draw a line from where I am, and determine what the shortest turn that keeps me on the protected side is. Obviously heading is a factor, but it's not everything--thinking about it as the shortest turn from the inbound course to the fix makes it so much easier. Now his hold entry was interesting to say the least....
and by that i mean when he first explained it he made a direct entry onto the heading of 090. you NEVER do that. if you are told to hold on the 090 and are heading 360 you would make a left turn and a direct entry as soon as you get to the fix and then start your standard rate right turn (or left if told to by ATC) right away and then fly the rest of the pattern.
Teardrop entry, parallel entry, direct entry? ever heard of those? you never enter on the outbound you always do one of the 3 i just listed to bring yourself inbound on the 090 in this case. this flight school is a joke. go to a flight school that is a Cessna Pilot Center, they are by far the best.
Its a great flying school folks.I completed my Commercial Pilot training from there, very high quality training, with advanced technology, best option for aspiring Pilots.
he's not talking just about outbound leg, what he means is that you spend 4min in a holding pattern one min in the inbound leg, one min turning, then one min in the outbound leg and finally one min turning again for the inbound course, that give us 4 four min in the pattern.
Am Muthu from India.... gonna join your school next year... I just love your teaching Dean
