I know it's not the keyboard itself, it's the sound quality of the camcorder/speakers.

@kyoobaze It's a poor recording, not a poor microphone. The creator doesn't understand gain stages, so what you're hearing is digital distortion.

Is it either my ears, the poor sound quality of the motif, or the poor quality of recording this demostration due to a "cheap microphone"? I know the motif is excellent in quality.

you're trying to honestly judge the sound of this keyboard when it's being recorded first through speakers/monitors, and second, the mic is on the digital camera, and third the speakers from your laptop. This is hardly a true indication of the sound of this keyboard
