I just finished installing this cover. It is aluminum Duct Tape. You can buy a role of that cheap so this makes a cheap easy test. Smooth rims are a known proven improvement, the race vehicles in the salt flats always do this as a standard mod. So it should improve the aerodynamics of the car and reduce the wind resistances and ultimately give better mileage.

  • i think that this could shorten the life of your breaks heat wise

also from my other research ive found that a lot of the turbulence produce on the underbelly is redirected out the rims not olny to reduce the turbulance but to cool the breaks

P.S dont take me too seriously im only 14 doing research for my Co2 drag car thought for my purposes the rim covers are a great idea thx

  • As I said earlier. I do a lot of coasting and use the brakes as little as possible. I just took the tape off the rims just recently so I could put new tires onto the rims. But I would like to get the moon caps for the rims. I have started a belly pan for the car, it just isn't finished yet. I need to run and get some cor-plast to make the entire belly of the car using that.

  • I don't use the brakes that much, I do a lot of costing and timing of the lights. The rotor are vented so that they will self cool from the air turbulence on the back side.

  • can i buy some tires on line?

  • sanity is rare

  • Did you notice any mpg improvements, after covering the rims with tape? If so, how much improvement? I notice much improvement just by changing the air filter and adding a little more air to the tires.

  • lol

  • What about the heat that is produced from braking?
