Listen, I feel for these people, but I do not believe that justifies our tax dollars being used when we have more pressing issues to worry about.
It's not that I don't think they need help, but there are ways to do it without our hard-earned tax money being spent.

Oyp567567, it's not about whether or not the LRA are a threat to US, because they aren't at all. It's about the fact that 30,000+ Ugandan children have been abducted, raped, killed, and tortured in ways that we can't even imagine. It's about whether or not we think an African child is as valuable as an American child.

Commenters who are against using tax dollars to end Joseph Kony's reign of terror:
If we were in a situation such as this, would you want another country to help us? If your sons and daughters were being forced to fight in a rebel army, would you not want international support to get them back?
We live in a blessed country. WE NEED TO HELP OTHERS. "National Interest" should not mean "Selfish Interest" Our nation should have a national interest to help others, not only ourselves.
Does the Haiti quake pose a significant threat? No one seems to have any problem sending $380mil in humanitarian aid plus thousands of troops to Haiti. How is the LRA any less our problem? $380mil for 200,000 dead plus countless others displaced or $35mil for 30,000 abducted and mutilated children, over 100,000 massacred, over one million people displaced plus countless rapes and mutilations and the numbers keep rising. For me the figure seems very justified.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with the opinions here. There's been a history of a lack of US involvement which has led to uprisings that we wish we would have taken care of in its earliest stages. Joseph Kony has already spread out from a small region of one country and is now affecting three additional countries. Who's to say he won't infiltrate other nations if he's never stopped?
A tactful strategy here can help bring relief to widows and orphans that have suffered for decades.
