First off, sorry about the length of the video. Didn't know I ramble that much.

Recently bought some Yongnuo RF603C's on eBay. Finally got around to doing a review of them. After the review is a quick distance test(sorry for the quality). At about 1/5 mile or 330 meters (should actually be ~225) with line of sight they trigger flawlessly. Why anyone would want to trigger a flash any further away is beyond me but there are those who might need to.

Moving on. RF603's are now transceivers. Both units function the exact same way. They use AAA batteries so they're easily replaceable. They also function as a remote trigger for your camera which is a definite plus. There are 2 versions, Canon and Nikon. They include PC sync ports if needed. They do not support TTL in any version. The units are plastic but they don't have that 'plasticy' feel to them. They don't have a lock for the hot shoe, so be aware of that. There are 16 selectable frequencies via a switch bank in the battery compartment.

All in all they really are a good set of triggers They're my first and they work well for what they are. I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking for a budget set.

  • Great review....anyway I have a question..I heard that trigger supports remote trigger in bulb mode..have you tested this

  • @kmsitt I have not. I don't see why it wouldn't work since bulb mode is essentially a click on and a click off. Probably something I might try when I get a few extra minutes free.

  • how come when using ttl mode with my yongnuo it doesn't give me enough power unless i use manual mode?

  • @benedictsalvacion These do not work in TTL mode for either Canon or Nikon. Everything must be shot in manual mode.

  • thanks man, useful video!

  • Just wondering if you know that The RF-603 triggers would work with the YN560 Flashes used with the Canon 550D? Is that your exact setup too? (apart from you using YN460). Hoping to order soon so need clarifying, thanks.

  • hi, thankyou. very informative.

  • Thanks man!

  • Thanks for the review. I'm very interested in getting a set of these. I have a question, Do you have problem with the hotshoe when mounted on your camera without locking ring? Does it fall off when shooting? Thanks. Good idea with the rubberband thinggy.
