Comparing Donnell Leahy to Ashley Macisaac is like comparing Steve Vai to Slash. Both very talented, but also quite different from one another. I think a good bit of the difference lies in how formally-planned their pieces are. Leahy writes out everything (possibly because there are a ton of people in the band who need to keep up with chord changes, etc), whereas Macisaac is almost totally unscripted. I don't think either approach is easier.

Hey Kasiwha, I grew up with that guy. I'm his brother. He did make it big. He is what most of us wish to be, contentedly happy.

I grew up idolizing this guy while learning fiddle. He could have made it big, and it's a shame he threw it away.
