that's not about school shootings. school shootings have almost nothing to do with the song except that little line:
"And you can all hide behind your desks now
And you can cry 'teacher come help me!"
the focus of the song is about what troops overseas have sacrificed for us and PSTD. hence the title and "bang, bang, it hammers in my head."

its also about war. obviously you have never experianced war. 99% of battles are fought in cities. its called MOUT (military operations on urbanized turain). the military trains this day in and day out (well the units that have money)

the song is supposed to make you believe that it is about the war, but then in the end it is revealed that it is about school shootings.

I agree with you that it is about school shootings, but a person listening to this for the first time will believe that it is about the war, until they hear the lyrics more towards the end of the song
