----------------------------------------------------

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run,
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun;
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one,
But the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

Is there aught we hold in common with the greedy parasite,
Who would lash us into serfdom and would crush us with his might?
Is there anything left to us but to organize and fight?
For the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

It is we who plowed the prairies; built the cities where they trade;
Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid;
Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made;
But the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

All the world that's owned by idle drones is ours and ours alone.
We have laid the wide foundations; built it skyward stone by stone.
It is ours, not to slave in, but to master and to own.
While the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn,
But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn.
We can break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn
That the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold,
Greater than the might of armies, magnified a thousand-fold.
We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old
For the union makes us strong.

    hearing this at midnight kettled in london, 100s of miles from home and after our bus had left was so magical. lifted my spirits so much. It was such an amazing moment in my life and for this reason I will always love this song.

    care to inform then? If i'm wrong here i'd like to know why, and buddy isn't really answering my questions. Is there a way that owning a business stops the alienation of labour for those who work in it/stops private property in general?

    You have given me neither of the two critical pieces of information I requested. You are not a socialist, you are not a member of any Party, and you don't know what you're talking about on harm reduction. Good day

    The unions are dead in the UK they were destroyed in the early 80s by Maggie Thatcher.

    While now days they do nothing but award the middle class labour party ££££££££. The union bosses just awarded themselves a 14% pay rise while the members loose there jobs & pensions. There not even alowed to strike without union permision which it wont give.

    Unions in fact are a hinderance to the members & just a tool for the government to keep members in line.

    I'm sorry, where are you finding your information? Has Insite in Vancouver done anything other than reduce deaths, HIV infections and addiction-related harms (such as poverty)?

    Also, what party and branch are you in that supports you claiming "unions are dead" and owning your own means of production, yet sees the direct quotation of Marx's understanding on class difference as comedic?

    Wow you help the bourgeoise drug dealers keep the poor opressed & hooked on drugs through the useless governments failed drug programs. no doubt you help them onto methadone as well.

    I just sell scrap metal i find & work on markets selling recycled products, you probbly ern 10x what I do.

    Your attitude is that of the Labour party & SWP who are full of middle class union members.

    I been telling members of my party about your comments & they cant stop laffing.

    I provide clean needles and crack pipes to drug users and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS for a wage. Again, if you own the means of production, such as owning a business, you do not have to sell your labour to live as you own property that you use to increase your wealth. You are the very definition of bourgeoisie, not proletariat
