One in a series of instructional strength training videos produced for an online strength training class at the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse by Travis M. Erickson, MS, CSCS*D. These videos, in conjunction with on campus, small-group exercise instruction, are intended to give the student a basic, working knowledge of strength training technique including why the lifts are done, how they are done correctly, and what common errors exist.
are these pretty much the same as the 1 legged squats with 1 foot on the bench?

@turbo2oh In many ways, yes. The difference for some people is a lack of flexibility when the back foot is on a bench -- it can be hard to generate good depth. Also, I think it's a little easier to gain assistance from the back leg in a reverse lunge then in a 1-leg squat (back foot on bench). Also, for those that have a concern with balance, this is less tricky then the 1-foot squat.
