Mew Glitch

I figured out a glitch to capture a Level 7 Mew in Pokemon Red Version without Gameshark or Action Replay. Heres the Instructions:

Intro & Preparation
First of all, make sure the game you're playing is Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow Version. Now start by making sure you have a Pokemon capable of fly or teleport (fly is preferable). Make sure you have an adequate suplly of Pokeballs (Great Balls, Ultra Balls, etc.). Make sure you have a pokemon capable of weakening a level 7 Mew. Lastly, ensure that you have not battled with the guy with the Slowpoke on Nugget Bridge and the Gambler in front of the underground passage next to Lavender Town.

Tutorial
Start from Lavender Town and walk towards the Underground Passage. Make sure the man doesnt spot you and go inside. Save the game in case you screw up from here. Next, take one step south, you should be right outside the door but you shouldnt be able to see the Gambler. Then, take one step south and press start immediately after (if he sees you and your start menu doesnt show, reset your game and repeat the steps above until you get it right). Then, select a flying pokemon with fly and fly to Cerulean City (or teleport back to Lavender and walk back to Cerulean). You will notice an exclamation mark above the Gambler's head but you fly away right after. Once in Cerulean, head north to Nugget Bridge (towards Bill's House). You will notice that your start menu doesnt work because the game thinks that you're in a battle with the Gambler and during battles, the start menu is disabled. Then, go battle the guy with the Slowpoke but make sure he walks up to you (if you walk up to him, your game will freeze). Beat his Slowpoke and you win. Then, fly back to Lavender Town. Head west, back to where the Gambler is. Your start menu will suddenly pop up. Press 'B' to cancel the menu and a Level 7 Mew will appear. Weaken it, catch it, and enjoy.

I don't know why people keep bitching about this. Too unbelievable to be a working cheat? Well, IT WORKS, try it yourselves! And unlike Missingno, Mew does NOT screw up your game because Mew is an existing pokemon.

There is a explanation of the cheat mechanics in sites like Bulbapedia, search for "Mew glitch".

As a matter of fact, when the game was released, some players triggered this cheat by accident and saw Mew. That is the reason why Nintendo had to admit Mew's existence.

Mew won't cause ANY problems because the devs themselves put it into the game. It was just only catchable "legally" during an event (which is not available anymore of course)

got 2 questions:

1. when i capture it and already carry 6 pokemon with me, will it be send to the box?

2. is it possible to store mew in a box, or will it give you any game problems?

@bigmar6776 Absolutely not. Gen 1 was a buggy pile of glitches. Gen 3 is actually sound. And the way Pokemon data is stored in both generations is completely different, anyway.
