My Dad and I guided my uncle on a BLM and public walk in hunt in Wyoming for Pronghorn Antelope in 2007. The tough part of the hunt was field judging the buck. We only like to take a mature buck that we feel will score over 80 B&C and we got on him at 9 yards I told my uncle not to shoot as the angle I had made him look smaller than 80". After 2 hours of looking at him with the 60X Leica spotting scope I decided 81" and my Dad decided 82" - Either way he was a shooter so once he got back in range my unlce put him in the dirt.

  • Nice video! If you don't mind sharing, what unit in Wyoming did this hunt take place in?

  • @nmelkhunter1

I can go as far as telling you that it is in the famed Carbon County. Obviously I would not want to widey post what units we apply for to draw tags as it would quickly explode to where my chances of a tag are worse than the slim odds I already have. Good Hunting to you!

  • @stanoman1 Fair enough! I live in New Mexico and antelope tags are hard to come by. I currenly subscribe to Eastman's Hunting Journal and I have used their MRS to pick a unit that I am going to hunt antelope in Wyoming. I am leaning towards a unit with a good walk in area since I feel there will probably be less pressure and I like to walk and glass instead riding an ATV or driving a truck. Thanks again.

Here is what I can do for you. If you get Eastmans you will see the buck I shot last year in that same unit. At the bottom in the "about the author" section you will see my website - where you can find my email. Email me and I will tell you the 2 units we hunt. Hunter to hunter - Don't spread the word OK. :)

  • @stanoman1 I couldn't find the Eastman's with your info.I typically keep the MRS section and get rid of the rest of the magazine after six months. I did look at the unit I have been considering hunting in and it is in the same county you mentioned. Odds are it is one of the two units you have in mind.

  • @nmelkhunter1 Eastmans that JUST came out June July Hunting Journal
