http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com/blog blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine wanted to share their own personal experience with Vitamin D deficiency and what they are doing about it in the latest installment of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb on YouTube" series.

In Episode 65, Jimmy and Christine talk about the health implications that come from having a Vitamin D3 deficiency. This is arguably one of the hottest health issues of our day that nobody really knows about. It's catching on ever-so-slowly, but people are beginning to realize that health problems such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, obesity, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, rickets and more are all directly linked to a lack of Vitamin D3 in the body. Christine's level measured a microscopic 9 ng/mL in January 2009 and Jimmy's was pretty low at 42 ng/mL when it was measured in July 2008.

Thanks to an aggressive 10,000 I.U. D3 gel caps regimen over a six-month period, Jimmy was able to raise his levels to a very healthy 68 ng/mL. And don't think you can get enough Vitamin D from simple sun exposure, especially if you live north of Atlanta, GA. This is why gel cap supplementation is so vitally important as Dr. William Davis ( http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com ) taught Jimmy on his podcast show last year.

For more excellent information about Vitamin D and health, visit Dr. Michael Holick's web site ( http://www.vitamindhealth.org ) and join the D-Action survey from GrassrootsHealth ( http://www.grassrootshealth.net/d-action ) to get your own Vitamin D3 levels checked for just $40. You can have this test run every six months to see if you need to start supplementing like Jimmy and Christine have. THIS IS TOO IMPORTANT TO YOU HEALTH FOR YOU TO IGNORE!

  • I'm personally not concerned about vitamin d3 and your wife didn't need to be either. When tests are run on vitamin levels the common vitamin that is checked for is D3. If they don't have equipment that can check for D2 levels then they won't sufficiently register. Research has shown that D2, is equally as effective as D3 but you just need to ask them to scan for D2 instead of D3.

  • I'm personally not concerned with D2...D3 is all that matters.

  • What brand of Vitamin D did u get? I couldn't quite make it out.

  • I get the D3 gelcaps from Sam's Club.

  • Hopefully those soft gels are loaded with the inflammatory, soy or veggie oil. Glycerin or olive oil is what you need to look for in soft gels.

  • They're the good kind. :)

  • It is so wrong that doctors don't automatically check our vitamin & mineral levels, close to 50 years of doctors and not once have they automatically checked for vitamin deficiency, I suppose you have to have a rich peoples doc

  • Well, if you were really as knowledgeable as I assumed then you'd know that the body treats D2 the same as D3. The only problem that we deal with is that when you ask a doctor to test for vitamin deficiency they automatically scan for D3. There are plenty of issues that address this issue since the D vitamin is not very easy to acquire. However, you're obviously not interested in educating yourselves so all the best to ya.

  • She's gradually improving as we get her D3 levels up. Joint pain, chronic fatigue, and other symptoms are doing better.

  • Does Christine feel better? What was the difference?

  • Great question, Skeeter! I suppose I glazed over that subject a bit in the video, but there was so much to squeeze in. There are a lot of subtle issues at work here, including chronic pain like Christine has with her fibromyalgia symptoms, diabetes, cancers, heart disease, and even obesity among others. Do a Google search on "Vitamin D Deficiency" and "Symptoms" and prepare to be amazed. Also, be sure to check out Dr. Davis' and Dr. Holick's web sites.
