This performance of Juan Tizol's Duke Ellington classic CARAVAN by LOST WEEKEND Western Swing Band was recorded on October 9, 2004 at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA. The recording features drummer John Harrison Brinck and saxophonist Jim Rothermel. John H. Brinck retired from performing in 2005; his career and talent bridged genres and generations. Guitarist Mark Holzinger's solo from this recording was excerpted and posted previously, and it remains on YouTube. Please support live music in your community.

  • this drummer is amazing!....how do i contact him?....is he still playing?....

  • Yes John is an exceptionally talented drummer. This performance was among his last sessions with the band. He retired from performing in 2005. Please visit the Lost Weekend website to inquire further about John and his current availability. Support live music min your community

  • The poster mentions some names of the people playing but he didn't mention one in particularly very important name. The violinist is Paul Anastasio. The only violinist to directly be taught by the legend Joe Venuti.

  • Thank for the view and comment. Paul Anastasio is certainly both important and very talented. He has been in the band for over a decade and deeply appreciated by both fellow musicians as well as audiences. Please Google any of the musicians including Paul Anastasio for more information.
