you should add more tags to the video, theres quite a few saturated fat and high cholesterol stuff on related videos, doesnt make much sense ':-\

Really cool graphical, particle, and sound effects! Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

looks good. Still a bit too starcrafty with your mouse movement though ;)

I can't really tell what actually happens... The sprite fades and there's particles and it can still be shot (or hurt the player, dunno), and then the screen fades?
I think it looks a bit stiff to be honest, and the particle movement looks a little bit weird to me.

what happens is: the player kills the creature, the creature releases memory cells/sparks, which then kill the player -- in the game if you kill any enemy, you die too (you also hurt them if you touch them).
and later you won't be able to still hurt it after it's dead of course. maybe it's a mistake posting videos if things that aren't fully coded yet, i mainly wanted to show the rest of the team how i've implemented death sequences so far. there are still a few changes i want to make to it.

Ah, that clears things up a bit. The memory cell thing sounds a bit like Kaiba.
I think a death animation of some sort would make it look more interesting.

there are like 50 enemies, and only about half of them drawn yet, so practically speaking asking the artist to do death animations for all 50 creatures is a bit difficult -- but perhaps i could use existing frames and create a death animation out of them (for instance, the creature shown here has wing flapping and arm movement frames (that aren't used yet but will be used for movement and grabbing), i could use those somehow to make it dance a bit before death); good idea, thanks.
