Snowboard Extreme Carving - Feb #1

Here's a short compilation of extreme snowboard carving from Jan + Feb 2010. The riders are Peti, Lowcarver, and Alexey; they are riding boards from Oxess, Virus, and Prior. The first clip is at Zillertal Arena, and the rest are at Hintertux glacier.

The video was made with a Canon Vixia HF200 and Kenko 0.5 wide angle, helmet-top-mounted, then stabilized with Virtualdub and Deshaker. The Kenko lens has a bit of barrel distortion which I think is leading to the slight distorted effect at the edges when there is heavy vibration. Shutter speed from 1/250 to 1/500.

Man, how is the snow over there this year, we are high and dry here in California, all man-made so far, I'm tweaking out on the bunny hills playing dodge the donkeys!

@stirmind Snow is ok, some days it's been too warm lately so a bit icy. LOTS of people on the slopes due to winter vacation, but that's over after this weekend. Dodge the donkeys, that's a good one to remember, especially for us carving boarders :-)

@stirmind thanx... the riders were not me but i was filming them ;-) gotta take a break for a month due to a wakeboarding injury from the late summer. hopefully i can tear it up again in a few weeks.

Grainy? Have you tried the 720p HD version? Perhaps the lower-res versions suffer from YouTube's downsampling. It was shot in full 1920x1080 and processed to reduce vibration.

@one51s get well soon, looks like Europe is getting hammered and I wonder if people can even make it to the resorts? We just go rained on our pitiful 23 inch base..sad year, but bound to happen after so many good years. It has been excellent every season, for the most part, since Jan. 05'. Aloha and ride well when you get a chance, don't want to re-injure yourself ;)

@one51s Get well soon, we just got a shot of powder! Yeah! I rode freestyle 2 days and carved 2 days...and the mountain was EMPTY! Nice.
