Although in bed early, it was as if I had not slept when the alarm sounded at 1:00 AM on the morning of the 27th. Our 6:30 AM departure from Sacramento International Airport to O'Hare meant a two hour drive from Lake Tahoe arriving at Bradley International Airport north of Hartford, Connecticut late in the afternoon.

Portland, the site of the Premiere and actual location of the story was only a half hour drive from New Britain, Connecticut; a convenient choice of accommodation from which to explore the historic New England state during our short stay.

Our second visit to the Constitution State, it did not disappoint. Cold and rural and although not as beautiful as the Autumnal zenith of color we celebrated on our first trip, the leafless deciduous forests were gorgeous on this late Winter occasion.

As you approach the Arrigoni Bridge from Middletown to this historic Yankee village and begin to cross over the Connecticut River below, we are invited to "Come On Over," as if any invitation is at all necessary. As we entered the bucolic village of Portland [known for its brownstone quarries and shipbuilding during the American Revolution and the War of 1812] we were charmed by the allure of family, friendship and tradition.

It is no mystery that the original Native American tribe known as Wangunk ("big bend," referring to the Connecticut River which curves around half the towns' perimeter) found Portland so accommodating. They were first but were certainly not the last.

"They re-graded the hill. It used to be steeper!"

  • @jdp160 The car rental had satellite reception and the Steve Winwood, U2 and Billy Joel was perfect soundtrack to the Portland Premiere. My daughters second single, 'In My Eyes' was used as soundtrack in this film, as the characters climbed 'Indian Hill.' It was a GREAT trip to a great community and we loved every minute of it....

  • u drove by my buddys house listening to my man billy joel lol. Rumor has that the reason why its called indian hill is because it was an old burial hill when the natives still inhabited. who knows whats really the case tho

  • Were they introduced to those in attendance at the Premiere? The cast was introduced in 'The Premiere of 'Indian Hill': Scenes From Connecticut, Part III

  • I went to a pageant and Maisy and her sister were there! They were both really cute and really good dancers!!!!!!

  • Indian Hill is the name of an independent film that takes place in Portland, Connecticut. The premiere was last weekend and was covered on local television. It was our second visit to the Constitutiion State and it is another adorable memory not just because my daughter's song is in the film.

I hope you read the description and watched the other parts to the story and the film.
