A Happy New Year All!
Here is some video of my annual Winter Wicken trip - a day where the Birds of Prey dominated.
The birds in (order in) the film are: Barn Owl, Ringtail Hen Harrier, Short-eared Owl, Kestrel, Barn Owl, Male (and Ringtail) Hen Harrier. Other raptors seen on the day were: Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk and (probable) Merlin.
Equipment: Opticron HR80 scope with Panasonic FS16 digiscope kit.

  • good footage, nice channel

  • @gwafilms - thankyou and... thankyou!

  • nice one, really clear and sharp, I really liked the Short eared owl

  • @NightHeronProduction - thank you! I could've done with a brighter day to be honest (it was really dull and grey!) but it was a good test for the new kit. I'd like to get some more footage of the S-E Owls at some point before winter's end... preferably on a day when the sun's out!

  • Wonderfull reed field and many birds!

  • @kazumoth - thanks very much for your comment! Yes, it's a pretty cracking place Wicken, especially in winter when the Harriers regularly come into roost into the same reed field at the end of each day and the diurnal (and crepuscular) Owls are more showy as there is less time/light to hunt. Cheers.
